Alvarado’s Flowers Shop is one of the newest additions to San Pablo Avenue, but there’s a reason the family who opened the lovely and quaint floral shop are familiar in the community.
“Our family used to have floral booths all over the streets of Richmond for the last 10 years before we moved in here,” said Patricia Alvarado, daughter of Juana Alvarado, who owns the business along with her sister Rafaela. “Some of our floral booths were located up in the Montalvin Manor area and we had several booths along the San Pablo Dam Road close to the old Thrift Town.”
Alvarado’s Flower Shop is located at 12557 San Pablo Ave., next door to Griselda Ledesma Real Estate Investors. Liliana Ledesma, whose sister Griselda owns the building where Alvarado’s operates, said she was “so happy to be one of their customers” and to support a Latina-owned business.
“I was personally excited when the flower shop opened up; I am a flower fanatic,” Liliana said. “I used to go San Francisco Flower Market, but now I have the convenience to go right next door.”
Patricia shared that workers from other community businesses have come to shop.
“We had a gentleman that works at Stewart’s Body Shop across the street come in and purchase flowers for his girlfriend here not too long ago,” she said.
The Factory Bar, another neighbor, gave a shout out to Alvarado’s Flowers on social media.
“We are so excited to welcome @alvaradosflowershop to the neighborhood!! If you haven’t checked out this new Richmond gem yet, you should. Their bouquets are beautiful!!”
Patricia said the new shop’s products are not just beautiful, but affordable.
“We are very proud to be a business here in Richmond,” she said.
Alvarado’s Flowers are open seven days a week. They prepare flower arrangements for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, funerals and in addition they sell bouquets, house plants and specialty gifts. They also deliver seven days a week.
