A sign in the outdoor patio of this North & East neighborhood shop reads, “The Upholstery Cleaning Specialists–Local, family-owned business.” It’s a very true statement.
Julio Oliveras, his daughter Jazmin and son Ray operate the business, located in a shop behind their home at 2916 McBryde Ave. since 1985. Location has been a key ingredient to the business’ continued success.
“The best thing about being here in Richmond is our location,” said Jazmin Oliveras, vice president at the company. “It permits us to travel all around the Bay Area and be very efficient.”
Upholstery Cleaning Specialists is a full-service upholstery shop offering cleaning and re-upholstery services. It also does furniture repair and restoration.
“Some of our specialty work is dining room chairs re-upholstery,” Jazmin said. “We do an express service where we will take your dining room chairs, re-upholster them and return them back to you in a week’s time. That is one of main specialties we have here. Our upholstery and rug cleaning are some of our most popular services.”
Jazmin said she loves getting to know clients and meeting their needs. When she’s not busy with the family business, Jazmin says she enjoys walking her dog or perusing downtown Richmond to try out new businesses. But “most of the time I am a homebody,” she said. “I like to stay home and read.”
We imagine she does so on a comfortable, expertly upholstered couch or reading chair.
