A 65-year-old San Pablo man has been charged with sexually abusing a 3-year-old child, according to Contra Costa County prosecutors.
Adalberto Guardado was arrested at his home, where the alleged assault occurred, on Saturday. He was subsequently charged by the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office with two felonies including the alleged sexual abuse of a minor.
Prosecutors are not releasing Guardado’s relationship to the child, per office protocol. Prosecutors allege Guardado befriended the girl before the alleged assault, and that an investigation by the San Pablo Police Department ensued after the girl reported the alleged assault to a family member.
As of Thursday, Guardado remained in custody at the Martinez Detention Facility where he was being held without bail.
The investigation is ongoing and active. Anyone in the public with information about this case or Guardado is encouraged to call the San Pablo Police Department at 510-215-3150.
