A Richmond High teacher was arrested Monday night on suspicion of having an inappropriate relationship with an underage student, police said.

The Richmond Police Department is not releasing many details about the active, ongoing investigation, including the teacher’s identity, Richmond police Lt. Matthew Stonebraker said.

The student reported the information to a school resource officer, who followed up and communicated with the principal and district and determined an arrest needed to be made, police said.

Further details will be released once the case is reviewed by the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office and charges are formally filed, he said.
