Three people were injured in a rollover vehicle accident on Richmond Parkway on Monday, and the two who weren’t wearing a seatbelt were ejected and sustained critical injuries, police said today.

The Richmond Police Department shared images from the crash scene on social media as a grim reminder on the importance of wearing a seatbelt.

The accident occurring just after 7 p.m. on the Parkway near Giant Highway, Richmond police Capt. Al Walle reported on social media. The driver involved was 15 years old and was one of the victims who was not wearing a seatbelt, Walle stated.

“The third passenger inside the vehicle had her seatbelt on and sustain minor injuries,” the Richmond Police Department reported online, sharing photos from a grim accident scene. “The passenger with the seatbelt walked away and the two who did not were transported to the hospital via a life flight helicopter.”

RPD asked drivers to “wear your seatbelt and encourage others in the car with you to do the same.”
