A police pursuit that began in San Pablo and was slowed early on by a popped tire ended with an arrest on a dead-end street in Berkeley Friday afternoon, police said.
San Pablo police officers were alerted to a stolen car by the vehicle’s owner, who was tracking it using GPS. Officers found the car, attempted to pull it over, but the suspect led them on a pursuit.
Even though the stolen car suffered a popped tire toward the beginning of the pursuit, the ordeal continued to Berkeley until the suspect surrendered on a dead-end street, police said.
Police said the suspect subsequently “gave a full confession about the auto theft.”
“The man had an extremely lengthy violent history and was booked into county jail for countless crimes, including, evading in a stolen car, auto theft with prior convictions, conspiracy, felony drug possession, driving while high, and probation violation, among others,” San Pablo police said.
