Inaugural Bay Area Catfish Challenge coming to San Pablo Dam
San Pablo Reservoir

The first annual Bay Area Catfish Challenge is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 30, at the San Pablo Reservoir in El Sobrante.

The inaugural event is presented by Anglers Press Outdoors in partnership with Mixed Bag Sportsman and is open to participants of all skill levels. The competition features three distinct age categories including an adult division with a $20 entry fee, a junior’s division for ages 12 to 16 with a $5 entry fee, and a kid’s division for ages 5 to 11 with a $5 entry fee.

Participants will have several opportunities to win equipment and prizes throughout the day. The individual who secures first place will receive a new kayak along with a custom trophy and additional prizes. Anglers finishing in second through 10th place will be entered into a drawing for a second new kayak, which also includes cash and prizes. Furthermore, every person who enters the competition is automatically eligible for a drawing to win a third kayak package. Additional raffle items such as rods, reels, and premium outdoor gear will be available during the event.

Interested individuals can register for the tournament by visiting the official website at anglerspress.com.

The event highlights the recent release of planted catfish at the dam. Sponsors for the challenge include Gone Fishin’ Marine, Gamakatsu, Fisherman’s Warehouse, Humminbird, and Minn Kota. Please note that kayaks and cash prizes are reserved for the adult division winners only.
