
Supervisor Diane Burgis is the new chair of the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors, and Supervisor Ken Carlson will serve as vice chair. The board chose its new leaders during a meeting on Tuesday to oversee the county’s $7.16 billion budget and services for 1.2 million residents.
Chair Diane Burgis represents District 3, which includes Antioch, Brentwood, and Oakley. She has served on the board since 2016. In her new role, Burgis aims to improve emergency response, public safety, and mental health services.
Vice Chair Ken Carlson represents District 4, covering Clayton, Pleasant Hill, and parts of Concord and Walnut Creek. He plans to focus on teamwork and getting results for the county’s diverse communities.
John Gioia is a long-standing member of the Board, representing District 1 in West County since 1998. His district includes the cities of Richmond, San Pablo, El Cerrito, and part of Pinole, along with unincorporated communities like El Sobrante, Kensington, and North Richmond.
