Hercules police Chief Joseph Vasquez said a new $65,000 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety will target distracted driving, impaired driving and speeding in the city.

The grant program, which will run through September 2024, will also fund community presentations on traffic safety issues, along with officer training and recertification in field sobriety tests and drug recognition.

“We are committed to improving our traffic safety, and these funds are a step in the right direction,” Hercules police Chief Joseph Vasquez said.
