The Safeway Shopping Center in Hercules celebrated its grand opening on Wednesday.
The new grocery store, along with a Chase Bank, Peet’s Coffee and a Safeway fuel center, are located at the corner of San Pablo Avenue and Sycamore Avenue.
The new 65,775-square-foot store replaces the Rodeo Safeway, which closed on April 13.
The Hercules Safeway is open 5 a.m. to midnight and employs over 165 team members, including associates from the former Rodeo store, according to the company.
“We’re excited to open a new store in Hercules,” said Karl Schroeder, Safeway Division President of Northern California, in a statement. “This is an ideal location being centrally located and easy to access from the freeway.”
