Safeway is hiring to staff its new store in Hercules.
On Thursday, Oct. 6, job seekers are encouraged to “attend” a virtual employer spotlight event at 10 a.m. to learn more about the positions. To register for the event, click here.
The Safeway Center is under construction at the southeast corner of San Pablo and Sycamore Avenue. The project, approved by the city in 2017, is developing a former BART park-and-ride lot and Market Hall site into a Safeway shopping center, fuel center, bank, and coffee shop with drive-thru services.
John McNellis of McNellis Partners said the shopping center is 80 percent complete, with the project slated for completion in mid-January.
“We are excited to see it going forward,” said Robert Reber, City of Hercules Community Development Director: “It will present new shopping and retail opportunities for the residents of Hercules and sales tax will be extremely helpful as well.”
