Pinole police located a firearm near the Pinole Valley High School campus on Friday after they were investigating the possibility that a student was in possession of a gun.
Officers responded to the school on a report of a possibly armed student. They collaborated with school staff to identify the student.
“When the student was approached, the student fled the campus,” police said.
Officers quickly located the student nearby. A search of the area led to the discovery of the loaded firearm (pictured).
“This incident highlights the strong collaboration between our officers and school staff and reinforces our commitment to keeping our schools and community safe,” Pinole police said.
