This Veterans Day, Contra Costa College will celebrate inspiring women in the military when it hosts, “In Command: The Struggles and Victories of Women in Leadership,” a free virtual event.
Top military women and a Veterans Affairs official will be among the remarkable women who will participate in the virtual event, which is set for Wed., Nov. 11 from 4-6 p.m. via Zoom. Click here to access the online link; it will become active at the commencement of the event.
Moderated by KTVU reporter and PTSD advocate Leigh Martinez, guest speakers for the virtual event will include an impressive line-up: Charmain Bogue, executive director of Education Service for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs; Rear Admiral Paula Campbell Brown, the first woman to command the Seabees in combat and who has been awarded the Legion of Merit for her service; Ty Brown, Navy veteran, policy analyst, former U.S. Department of State foreign affairs officer, global security specialist and broadcasting professional; Maureen Elias, associate legislative director at Paralyzed Veterans of America; and Doctor Lieutenant Commander Leedjia Svec, former director of military programs for NASA and active duty U.S. Navy.
