House of Loving Hands, a Richmond nonprofit that assists victims of domestic abuse with hope, safety and resources, is hosting its fourth annual “Come-Unity BBQ” Saturday, July 27 from noon to 3 p.m. outdoors behind the Bay Area Girls Club at 260 Broadway in Richmond.
The event will serve up delights from Black Star Pirate BBQ, and also back-to-school supplies and resources such as backpacks, shoes, coats and haircuts.
Founder of the nonprofit Deneshia Clemons said that 300 lunches will be available at the BBQ; 100 pairs of shoes; 50-75 coats; and more than 50 backpacks—all given out on a first-come-first-served basis.
Kids will also be treated to a mini-carnival at the event, as well as popcorn and cotton candy.
