“Andre Thierry’s Roots, Rhythm & Vines” event Sunday, May 18 from 1-4 p.m. at Riggers Loft is featuring the Grammy-nominated accordion soul musician, tasty eats and fine wines, with tickets sales benefiting Thierry’s music program for youth, “Are You Ready to Learn?”

Richmond-native Thierry and his band will play traditional and new music selections influenced by French Kreole LaLa, Zydeco and Accordion Soul with one common goal: introducing local youth to music. Using instruments like vest rub boards, drums and the accordion in his program, Thierry shares a musical mix of African and Native American Blues, French dance melodies and elements of Afro-Caribbean music with budding musicians.

Thierry and his band won’t be the only ones cookin’ up a storm at Riggers Loft that afternoon. The venue’s Chef Frank Miller’s menu will feature classics to accompany the music, like Crawfish Monica, Fried Catfish, Jambalaya, Beignets and other culinary delights. Look for pics of his dishes @cheffrankmiller on Instagram.

The event venue, Riggers Loft Wine Company, is a collective wine bar, tasting room, working winery, and cidery, led by principal owners R&B Cellars. It features spacious indoor and outdoor seating overlooking Richmond’s bayfront water views. Find it at 1325 Canal Blvd. in Richmond.

Tickets to the benefit are $11.38 for general admission; $20.98 for an open table reserved seat; and $214.99 for a reserved table. Purchase tickets here and learn more about Andre Thierry’s Richmond backstory here.
