San Pablo to launch first National Night Out community celebration

The San Pablo Police Department, in partnership with the City of San Pablo and San Pablo Economic Development Corporation, invites the public to join the city’s first National Night Out Community Celebration on Tuesday, Aug. 7 from 5 p.m. to 8 pm, at the San Pablo Community Center, 2450 Road 20.

National Night Out is held annually on the first Tuesday in August in cities across the nation as a way to build bonds between neighbors, police officers and firefighters, and to increase crime prevention and safety awareness. It does so through the organization of block parties throughout the community.

In Richmond, in addition to block parties, police hold a central community celebration on National Night Out. Last year it was held at the Richmond Target.

This year, San Pablo will for the first time hold its own central community celebration.

The event will run from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at San Pablo Community Center, 2450 Road 20. There will be entertainment, food, games, drawing prizes, and photo opps with the police department’s new K-9 mascot, Pablo.
