Why killings aren’t happening as often in Richmond

The West County Times offered great insight on Monday into why the homicide total in Richmond has dropped so dramatically.

Last year 16 people were killed, the lowest total since 1980. In 2009, there were 47 killings.

A police department with fresh faces and tactics, as well as a community that was simply fed up with the violence, helped make the city a whole lot safer, according to the article.
