Mark your calendars for the return of the Healthy Village Festival in Richmond on Saturday, June 6.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the block that includes Community Green Space Park on Macdonald Avenue at Harbour Way will become a one-stop health fair with activities for the whole family.
The free 6th annual event, held by the Richmond Main Street Initiative (RMSI), will include a produce giveaway, cooking demonstrations, vendors, information booths, Zumba and Martial Arts fitness breaks, pony rides, and arts and crafts. Bicycle parking is free and fix-in services will be provided by the nonprofit Rich City Rides.
Fresh fruits from the Freshest Cargo truck will also available be available for purchase, along with foods from That’s My Dog hot dog cart.
The festival was formerly a series called the Healthy Village Farm Stand series. The change into a one-time event came after RMSI sought ideas from past attendees.
“The biggest requests were for more healthy eating and fitness demonstrations,” outreach coordinator Alicia Gallo said. “Turning this series into a one-time festival event will allow us to fulfill this request.”
Healthy Village Festival is sponsored by Kaiser Permanente, City of Richmond, Recreation and Parks Commission, YMCA, Fresh Approach, and The Annex Accommodations.
