Richmond residents should bring their favorite lawn chair — and their dancing shoes — to the 7th Annual North Richmond Music Festival, slated from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 16 at Shields-Reid Park on Kelsey Street.
The 2016 version of the yearly bash, hosted by Duane Chapman, will pay tribute to the recently passed rock legend Prince, including a special performance in his honor by the North Richmond Dancers. Musical headliners will include Priesthood Nation, Mark St. Mary’s Blues Zydeco, Twice as Good and Fillmore Slim. Also in the lineup is a unique drumming presentation from Bionic Roots.
A free lunch will be served from noon until 3 p.m., and there will be plenty of family activities such as pony rides, face painting and a petting zoo. Sponsors include Chevron and Sims Metal Management.
