12-year-old figure skating phenom lives in Richmond


A 12-year-old figure skating phenom training at the Oakland Ice Center lives in Richmond.

Alysa Liu can perform “senior-level triple jumps as casually as if she were talking on a smartphone,” according to a great profile by the Mercury News ahead of the U.S. championships in San Jose.

Liu, one of five children being raised by a single father who recently moved his family to Richmond, is a favorite in the women’s junior division and also the youngest in the competition, according to the profile.
