USA Today ranks Salesian girls basketball team No. 2 in nation
Salesian poses following its victory at Sleep Train Arena last season that earned the team its first-ever trip to the championship game of the state's highest division.

If you can’t make the trip to Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento tonight, you can watch the Salesian girls basketball team play in its first ever CIF Open Division state championship game on television and online.

The 6 p.m. game will be streamed live online here. Also, Comcast SportsNet will broadcast the game live on these TV channels.

For those who can make it to Sleep Train Arena, tickets are $16 for adults and $10 for students, seniors and children.

Until today, no Salesian High School team has ever competed in the championship game for the state’s highest division. The Pride are considered underdogs against Long Beach Poly.

Long Beach Poly (26-3) is the fourth best team in the nation, according to ESPN’s most recent rankings. The Jackrabbits moved up six spots in the rankings after beating No. 7 Mater Dei and No. 19 Etiwanda in the state tournament. Watch out for UCLA-bound Lajahna Drummer and Louisville-bound Arica Carter, who led the way for Long Beach Poly in the regional finals.

Salesian (30-6) is ranked 17th in the country on the ESPN list. The Pride moved up seven spots in the rankings after defeating league rival St. Mary’s of Berkeley and Miramonte in the state tournament. With eight seniors, the Pride believed it was their destiny to make it this far.
