Sheldon Elementary School will host “A Night of Brazilian Rhythm & Voice” on Thursday, May 21. The event takes place from 6-7 p.m. in the school cafeteria at 2601 May Road in Richmond. Admission is free and the entire community is welcome to attend.
The program features musical performances by 1st through 3rd-grade students who have been studying Brazilian rhythms through a partnership with Living Jazz. Additionally, 4th-grade members of the school’s Speech & Debate Club will deliver presentations organized by The Practice Space. The performances are designed to showcase student leadership and cultural appreciation.
Catherine Ames, the school’s community partnerships specialist, said the event highlights the positive results of schools and local organizations working together.
“Our students have worked incredibly hard to prepare, and we are excited to celebrate their talents, voices, and cultural learning with our families and the greater Richmond community,” Ames said.
Members of the public seeking more information can contact the school at (510) 231-1414.
