The Golden State Warriors recently named Keycha Gallon an Impact Warrior Honoree during a ceremony at Chase Center. The award celebrates her work as the executive director of Keyz 2 the Future, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting youth in Richmond.

The recognition took place during Black History Month in front of thousands of fans, with Gallon’s name illuminated on the massive arena scoreboard.

Gallon’s leadership grew out of personal tragedy and a desire to help others. After her brother Ernest Neff and some of her cousins lost their lives to gun violence, she decided to build the resources she felt her neighborhood lacked.

Keyz 2 the Future is a grassroots nonprofit dedicated to helping youth impacted by trauma, violence, and systemic inequity reclaim their futures through mentorship, leadership development, literacy, and healing-centered programming. The Standard featured the nonprofit at its grand opening in 2023.

Gallon is expanding her efforts as a community advocate. She is currently running for a seat on the Richmond City Council.
