Members of the United Teachers of Richmond (UTR) voted to approve a tentative agreement with the West Contra Costa Unified School District (WCCUSD) following a four-day teachers’ strike.

The union said 92.63 percent of members who voted supported the agreement, with 1,143 yes votes and 91 no votes out of 1,234 ballots cast.

The agreement, reached after extended negotiations, includes an 8 percent wage increase over two years and provisions for 100 percent employer-paid family health benefits by mid-2027. The strike, the first in the district’s history, ended when negotiators signed the deal early Wednesday. Schools returned to normal operations on Thursday.

The contract still must be formally ratified by the WCCUSD Board of Education before all terms take effect.
