The beloved Sundar Shadi Holiday Display returns Saturday, Dec. 13 at 5 p.m. on Moeser Lane at Sea View Drive. Lights and music run nightly 5–9 p.m. through Dec. 26, with extended hours until 10 p.m. on Christmas Eve, organizers say.
The display is a beloved El Cerrito tradition that lights up Moeser Lane every December with hundreds of handcrafted figures, lights and music, drawing visitors from across the Bay Area. Started in 1949 when local resident Sundar Shadi placed a star on his hillside and kept adding shepherds, camels, buildings and more, the massive Bethlehem-style scene has been preserved and set up each year by volunteers and community groups long after his death.
