The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office identified Griffin Hammond, 20, of Richmond, as the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred just after 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, near Potrero Avenue and Carlson Boulevard.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire and found Hammond suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second person was later treated for a gunshot wound at a local trauma center; detectives are working to determine whether the incidents are connected.
The department says the case marks the city’s third homicide of 2025.
