The Richmond-based Tibetan Association of Northern California (TANC) is inviting the community to join a bike rally in San Francisco on Saturday, Nov. 8, in celebration of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 90th birthday, known in Tibetan as Ghoton.

The event, titled “Pedal for Peace and Compassion,” will bring together cyclists, walkers, families and Tibet supporters to honor the Dalai Lama’s lifelong message of peace, kindness and universal compassion.

The rally will begin at 11 a.m. at Ghirardelli Square Park. Participants will cycle to the North Vista Point of the Golden Gate Bridge and back. A shorter route will be available for children, accompanied by adult guardians. For those who prefer to participate on foot, organizers are also arranging a walking contingent along the same path.

“This event is not just a ride — it’s a celebration of the Dalai Lama’s 90 years of wisdom and his unyielding message of compassion for all beings,” said a spokesperson from the Tibetan Association of Northern California, located at 5200 Dalai Lama Ave. in Richmond.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own bikes, helmets and water. Bike rentals will also be available near the starting point. The rally is free and open to everyone, but registration is required in advance. Those who register early will enjoy a complimentary lunch and light refreshments following the event.
