Thanks to generous support from Dr. Andrew Larazus, the Richmond Rotary Club, EdFund West, and Hays Insurance Company, admission remains free and open to the public. Free weekend parking will be available both at BART and nearby streets.
On-Site Registration runs from 10-11 a.m. Early arrival is encouraged, as registration closes at 11 a.m. sharp.
From 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., there will be an Introduction to Chess Class for beginners or those looking to refresh their skills. From 10 a.m. till noon, a Challenge a First Responder course will encourage local youth to face off against Richmond’s finest in a friendly match.
The Quad Tournament (G30, Non-Rated) takes place from 12:30-3:30 p.m., with pairings announced at 12:15 p.m. Early online registration is strongly encouraged as space is limited.
From 1-3 p.m., Grandmaster Enrico Sevillano returns to take on 30 challengers simultaneously in an awe-inspiring showcase of chess mastery. Registration for this event is capped at 30 players.
“The Richmond Chess Festival is more than just a tournament, it’s a celebration of learning, mentorship, and connection,” said TC “The Black Knight” Ball, founder of the West Coast Chess Alliance. “We’re proud to see how chess continues to bring our community together, from young beginners to seasoned competitors.”
Participants can register online here and are encouraged to sign up early to guarantee a spot in featured activities.
