The Richmond Tool Library is expanding its public hours and marking the change with a hands-on celebration at the Recreation Complex on Friday, Oct. 3.
Starting on that day, the tool library will open Wednesdays and Fridays from 1-5 p.m., city staffer Stephanie Nye said during the latest Richmond Neighborhood Coordinating Council meeting. Currently, it is open only on Wednesdays.
The Tool Library allows residents to borrow instead of buy tools needed for their home repairs, yard work and neighborhood projects.
To kick off the expanded access, Community Services is hosting “Growing Toolgether: A Day with the Tool Library” at the Recreation Complex (3230 McDonald Ave.) on Oct. 3. The day features two free events, a volunteer workday to beautiful the complex from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and a Heat-Press T-Shirt Workshop & Celebration from 1-5 p.m. The latter event has participants learning simple customization techniques and to take home a wearable memento. A limited number of shirts will be provided, so attendees are encouraged to bring a cotton T-shirt or other cotton fabric to customize.
For questions about the celebration or Tool Library access, residents can contact the Community Services registration office at (510) 620-6793.
