The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office formally charged 18-year-old Richmond resident Malachi Josiah Attaway with multiple felony counts of sexual assault, along with enhancements, stemming from an incident on the Ohlone Greenway in El Cerrito on May 18, the El Cerrito police said Wednesday.
El Cerrito police responded to reports of a sexual assault on the Ohlone Greenway, also known as the BART Path, between Hill Street and Blake Street. Following an investigation, detectives identified Malachi Josiah Attaway as the suspect. Attaway was arrested on Aug. 13. The DA’s Office followed up with filing felony charges two days later.
He remains in custody pending further legal proceedings.
