Richmond Art Center’s ‘Summer Semester’ class registration opens

Amy Spencer, executive director at the Richmond Art Center, expressed elation for hosting the exhibit, calling it important for Richmond and the Bay Area. "Now more than ever, it’s essential to provide exposure and access for all to art - viewing it, learning art history and space to create it," Spencer said. Irene Bee Kain, curator and vice-chair of the Art of the African Diaspora Steering Committee, noted this is the longest running show featuring Black artists in the U.S. "And it gets bigger and better each year," Kain said.

Summertime in the Rich is ready to shine, as witnessed by the Richmond Art Center (RAC) opening registration for its “Summer Semester” classes today, May 7, at 10 a.m.

“Art classes are run out of seven studio spaces focused on media including ceramics, painting, fiber art, jewelry/metal art, printmaking and glass,” said the RAC on its website.

Those interested can check out the RAC’s summer class listings on its website. Note that classes will appear listed as “fully booked” until the registration time opens. The RAC warns that once classes open, some fill quickly after registration opens.

Interested in an open studio? Learn more about the RAC’s Studio Access Program.

Anyone booking a class for the first time can use the code sandcastle2025 for 20 percent off their first class (one per student). The offer is not applicable to workshops.

Those wanting support with class fees may be able to take advantage of free or reduced rate art classes via the RAC’s Scholarship Program. Click the link to apply for a scholarship by Friday, May 23 or until the scholarship spots are all allocated.
