Contra Costa College students from the club Concilio de La Comunidad are hosting the “2nd Annual Cinco de Mayo Shine n’ Show Drive-in Fundraiser’ Friday, April 25 in the campus’ parking lot 1 (Campus Drive entry).
Car clubs, food trucks and a movie will be part of the event mix that afternoon. Cars are rolling in at 4 p.m., while the Shine n’ Show is from 5 to 7:30 p.m. The entrance fee is $10 and proceeds will support the student club.
“The students wanted to continue the students, family and community engagement from the American Homeboy event last year and local car clubs were in full support,” said faculty member Lorena Gonzalez. She added that the group also wanted to provide support and opportunity for local street food vendors to sell their food.
Car clubs lined up for the event include the Otra Cosa Car Club and Brothers C.C. of Richmond, Brotherhood Bay Area, Excandalow Bay Area Car Club, West Side de Berkeley Car Club and Chelu Car Club.
Organizers encourage people to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets for the movie La Misma Luna, which will be shown from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Food trucks will also be on hand, including Rostilotes (roasted corn), Michoacan Burgers, Genkibachi (hibachi) and Nuestra Dulce Cultura.
