The release of Theme of Identity – Off the Stage: Welcome Inside, the debut poetry collection by Oakland’s Papi Grande, will highlight a night of literary performances at CoBiz Richmond on Thursday, April 17.

Richmond Poet Laureate Stephen Sharpe will host the special Afterword Press Presents Open-Mic Night, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. and performances starting promptly at 7 p.m.

Among those scheduled to perform are Antioch Poet Laureate Cordon Concepts, 2024 Berkeley Co-Grand Slam Champion Protected Poet, and MoAD 2024 Poet-in-Residence and Berkeley Slam 2025 Coach Reggie Edmonds-Vasquez.

A limited number of additional open mic spots will be available for sign-up on a first-come, first- served basis.

Music will be curated by DJ Nash’Chanel. Delicious food will be available for purchase.

Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance by clicking here.

Can’t make it on April 17? Good news is Afterword Press Presents Talent Night is held every third Thursday of the month, from 7-9 p.m., at CoBiz Richmond. Although the April 17 event is a special opportunity to celebrate Grande, an emerging young author.

CoBiz Richmond is located at 1503 Macdonald Ave. in Richmond.
