The battle for peace and human rights is no longer a walk in Richmond — it’s now a march, according Faith in Action East Bay (FIAEB).

At 1 p.m. Friday, March4Family, formerly known as Richmond Peace Walks, will take place for the first time at Richmond City Hall. The monthly marches will continue on the third Friday of each month at City Hall, stated FIAEB, a nonprofit made up of over 23 East Bay congregations working to address human rights issues in Contra Costa and Alameda counties.

The events are sponsored by FIAEB, Silence the Violence, Richmond Safety Stakeholders Association and Mt. Diablo Unitarian Universalist Church. The organizations said the goal of the marches is to unite people of all backgrounds and genders against an onslaught of hostile federal legislation threatening families and communities, both documented and undocumented.

“We believe in the unity of our coalition strength to fight for our families to stay together and are asking for elected officials to join,” Lee said.
