The Richmond Rotary Club packed a full house for its Crab Feed Saturday night, with numerous tables of local community members enjoying the tasty feast at Salesian College Preparatory.

Proceeds from the popular event benefited the Rotary Club, which is well known throughout Richmond for its altruistic endeavors. A sampling of the Club’s work around the city includes supporting a free Dental Clinic and $100 checks for teacher supplies at Peres Elementary, funding equipment for an accessible workshop at NIAD Art Center, teaming up with former Mayor Tom Butt and other organizations to connect families with affordable housing during the pandemic, and so much more.

Along with a dinner entre of fresh crab, diners also had the option of pasta with marinara or vegetarian sauce. Salesian students who are members of their school’s Interact Club stepped in as servers during the event. Club members earn community service hours by serving a good cause, in this case, the Rotary’s Crab Feed.

A raffle run by Club President Henry Moe occurred following dinner, with treats like wine, liquor, specialty makeup and other donated prizes. Also spotted on hand that night were the Rotary’s President Elect Nakele Obleton Rechenauer, Oscar Garcia, Jan Brown, Tamara Shiloh, Tiffany Harris, Glenda Roberts, Mary Savoie-Stephens and Zee Handoush—to name a few.

Next up for the Richmond Rotary is “Sip & Savor,” an all-you-can-eat-and-drink food & wine festival slated for Saturday, April 12, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 2851 Salesian Ave. in Richmond. Proceeds benefit RotaCare WCC.
