Richmond Little League officially launched an exciting new season with its Opening Day parade on Saturday.
With help from the Richmond Police Department, including a ceremonial first pitch thrown by Chief Bisa French, the parade of parents, players, coaches and supporters marched from Richmond Civic Center to Nicholl Park in order to play ball. The Oakland Ballers’ mascot Scrappy the Rally Possum was also on hand for the celebration.
Richmond Little League offers coed tee ball, coed baseball and girls’ softball for children 4-16 years old, as well as the inaugural coed Challenger Division team for players with disabilities ages 4-18 years old.
Players can sign up online on Richmond Little Leagues website or in person at Richmond Police Activities League’s (RPAL) front desk at 2200 Macdonald Avenue in Richmond (see website for related fees). Contact richmondll@yahoo.com to inquire about volunteering or support the team via a sponsorship.
