Keycha Gallon, a native of Richmond’s Iron Triangle and CEO and founder of the nonprofit Keyz 2 the Future, is celebrating the launch of her book Navigating Parenthood While Black.
An “Author’s Sip & Book Signing” event will be held to mark the book’s launch Saturday, Jan. 18 from 2-5 p.m. at 322 Harbour Way, Suite 26 in Richmond. The event will feature an author discussion, the signing of purchased books and light refreshments.
Gallon’s own journey of survival and triumph—as a gun violence survivor, teenage mother and first-generation college student—has informed her book. She has prevailed over her life challenges to transform her “pain into purpose,” being honored as a Congressional Woman of the Year in 2024 and amplifying the voices of Black parents along the way through her advocacy.
“This book is a reflection of my journey and the stories of countless Black families who persevere despite the odds,” she said. “It’s a call to action, a celebration of resilience, and a guide for navigating the challenges of parenthood in a world that often feels stacked against us.”
