A driver had his car impounded for 30 days after he “decided to start doing donuts” in front of Richmond police officers on Sunday.

Officers were responding to an unrelated call near Chesley Avenue and 2nd Street when the driver decided to pull off the stunt in front of them, according to police.

Officers pulled him over and learned the driver’s license was suspended due to a DUI conviction.

Also, his car’s engine was found to have several illegal modifications, police said.

In addition to the impound, the driver now must make a trip to the state referee to ensure his vehicle’s modifications have been removed.

“If RPD officers catch you driving recklessly, you can expect steep fines and your vehicle to be impounded to the maximum extent of the law,” police said. “We have no tolerance for reckless drivers and side show activity in our city.”
