Santa to visit ‘Community Holiday Party’ at Bay Area Girls Club

By Kathy Chouteau

It takes a village to raise a child—and sometimes, to deliver holiday cheer. A group of local youth-centric organizations are collaborating to do just that with a free “Community Holiday Party” Saturday, Dec. 14 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bay Area Girls Club in Richmond.

Creating seasonal magic at the event will be a puppet show, storytelling sessions, arts & crafts activities and a visit from Jolly Old Saint Nick himself—better known as Santa Claus—who will take time out from toymaking to meet with children and hand out candy canes. Parents will be encouraged to take their own photos.

Adding to the holiday festivities will be musical entertainment from Nakele Richenaur during the event, as well as a lunch of hot dogs, chips and other refreshments at 12 p.m. Fun for adults will come in the form of a “Bubbles Wall” of adult beverages people can participate in via tickets.

Revelers can also take time to learn more about the organizations hosting the event—all of which impact the lives of children and youth in some way—including Just Imagine KidZ, Bay Area Girls Club, Multicultural Bookstore & Gifts, Contra Costa Youth Service Bureau, The Black Parents Resource Center and Girl Scouts Troop 125.

Find the fun at Bay Area Girls Club, 260 Broadway in Richmond.
