The Walgreens store at 1150 Macdonald Ave. in downtown Richmond is slated to close Jan. 30, according to SFGATE, which cited a Walgreens spokesperson.

The store is one of three in the East Bay that are shutting down on the heels of a company announcement two months ago about closing 1,200 Walgreens nationwide. The other two locations closing their doors are at 3434 High St. and 5809 Foothill Blvd. in Oakland.

SFGATE reported that, following the closure, prescriptions for the Macdonald Avenue location will automatically go to 13691 San Pablo Ave. store in San Pablo. The spokesperson for the pharmacy chain said that employees will be given the option to work at other nearby Walgreens stores and that customers will be notified about the changes in advance.
