The Richmond Swim Center by Kennedy High School has been temporarily closed for repairs since mid-October due to damage to its fire alarm’s copper wires, according to a staffer at the City of Richmond’s other indoor pool, the Richmond Plunge.

Luckily, there’s light at the end of the tunnel for local swimmers. A Plunge staffer confirmed the repairs to the fire alarm have been completed and that they are awaiting the green light from the Recreation Department’s higher-ups before reopening. The staffer estimated that the pool will reopen next week.

Those wanting to check on the pool’s status for next week are encouraged to call the Richmond Swim Center at 510-620-6654 or the Plunge at 510-620-6820. Additionally, swimmers can keep an eye out for email communications about the reopening.

While the Richmond Swim Center has been closed, swimmers have been redirected, along with staff, to the Plunge in Point Richmond.

The Richmond Swim Center is located at 4300 Cutting Blvd. in Richmond and the Plunge is at 1 E. Richmond Ave. in Point Richmond.
