The Richmond Police Department dispersed a large sideshow at W. Cutting and Canal boulevards that included over 200 spectators on Saturday night.

Some of the spectators were setting off commercial-grade fireworks, police said.

It was part of a series of sideshows reported the same evening across the East Bay, including San Pablo and Oakland. Several people were hurt in Oakland when a Mustang doing donuts hit a crowd of people, according to NBC Bay Area. One sideshow was reported on the eastern span of the Bay Bridge, NBC reported.

While dispersing the crowd in Richmond, the Richmond Police Department followed four vehicles as they attempted to flee. Those cars ended up at a dead end at E. Richmond Avenue and Wine Street. One of the cars escaped, but not after ending up with flat tires after running over a tire deflation device and a concrete island, RPD stated. The other three vehicles remained at the scene, and the drivers of those cars were issued citations for reckless driving. Their cars were impounded for 30 days, police said.

The drivers face fines up to $500 in addition to their tow fees, along with possible license suspension.

None of the drivers at the Richmond sideshow were residents of the city and had come from as far as Patterson and Sacramento, according to police.
