Stand-up comedian ‘Gonzo’ aims to 'kill it' at the Kiss

By Kathy Chouteau

Fans can expect a good punch line when comedian Dan “Gonzo” Machanik brings his new show “Killing It” to the Baltic Kiss in Point Richmond Thursday, Aug. 15 from 7-9 p.m. Admission is free.

Along with the headliner, the evening of stand-up comedy will also feature Bay Area comedians Jason Cole as the MC/host and Uriah Jacquez as part of the show.

Machanik—who once was introduced for an Aspen, CO show by Gonzo journalist Hunter S. Thompson—re-launched his comedy show at the Baltic Kiss in October 2023. Since then, he said he’s had an amazing run on the Vegas Strip, wineries and yacht clubs, also headlining throughout the Bay Area and opening for Mark Curry. “So, in a way, this show brings me back to where it all re-began,” he said.

The comedian hails from Richmond’s Marina Bay neighborhood and has a comedic pedigree that also includes having opened for Garry Shandling and performing eight shows with Tommy Chong.

Machanik said he’s grateful for everyone he’s worked with along the way—other comics and bookers—as well as his “legion of loyal fans at the Gonzo Comedy Nation and the good folks at the Richmond Standard for supporting [him] every step of the way.”

The Baltic Kiss is located at 135 Park Pl. in Point Richmond. Learn more about the Richmond show here and Dan “Gonzo” Machanik here.
