When was the last time you visited Destenny’s Ice Cream?

The shop sparkles like spring on a winter’s day from its spot on 23rd street, with friendly owners, a vibrant paint job and bright butterflies inside to greet its patrons.

Owner Mirna Peraza said she’s been in business there for 11 years. Among her many offerings is San Francisco’s famed Mitchell’s Ice Cream, which is delivered to her shop two times per month.

Altogether, the shop offers 20 flavors of “scoop” ice cream, 30 flavors of ice cream available in half gallon containers, more than 10 flavors of shaved ice and mangonadas.

Peraza also gave us the scoop on her shop’s most popular ice cream flavors, which are mango, pistachio, rum raisin, butter pecan and lucuma.

Inside the 23rd Street shop, visitors will find a bright blue ceiling adorned with multicolored butterflies overlooking a clean and organized business.

Destenny’s Ice Cream’s ideal location next door to Portumex—look for the pink exterior—adds to its opportune appeal as a sweet place for a cool-down dessert after a little spice at the neighboring Mexican eatery.
