Leapfrog Group recognizes Kaiser Richmond as ‘Top Hospital’

The Leapfrog Group’s 2023 list of “Top Hospitals” in the nation includes Kaiser Permanente Richmond.

Only 132 hospitals nationwide, or just 6 percent of the 2,100 eligible hospitals, were recognized this year.

To determine the nation’s highest performing hospitals, The Leapfrog Group, a nonprofit advocating for patient safety, conducts an annual survey that assessing facilities based upon a wide range of standards, including staffing, hand hygiene, infection rates, practices for safer surgery, maternity care, and error prevention.

To be considered a top hospital, facilities must have also received an “A” Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade in the most recent round of scoring. 

The Kaiser hospitals in Antioch, Santa Clara and South San Francisco joined Richmond in being recognized as top teaching hospitals by The Leapfrog Group. Kaiser San Leandro and San Rafael were named top general hospitals in the survey.
