A trio of blues musicians is coming to town over the summer holidays, courtesy of The North & Greater Richmond Blues Foundation, which recently released its “Blues Out Norf’ Holiday Jam Sessions” schedule.
Live music, dancing, food and beverages will be part of the free-to-attend jam sessions over Memorial Day, Fourth of July/Independence Day and Labor Day weekends in the foundation’s courtyard at 1350 Kelsey St. in Richmond.
Audience members should bring lawn chairs and musicians should “bring your ax,” per organizers.
The fun starts Sat., May 27 from 12-4 p.m., Memorial Day weekend, when Michael Skinner & the Final Touch Band play for attendees. Then, on Sat., July 1 from 12-4 p.m., Fourth of July/Independence Day weekend, the Bobby Young Project will appear. And finally, on Sat., Sept. 2 from 12-4 p.m., Labor Day weekend, Nat Bolden with the State of the Mind Blues Band will perform.
“The summer holidays are approaching. If you’re doing a holiday staycation, join us for the fun,” said foundation Executive Director DeJeana Burkes on Facebook.
The North & Greater Richmond Blues Foundation’s mission is to “preserve, support and promote blues music,” per Facebook. Learn more about the nonprofit organization here.
