A grand opening will be held for the North Richmond Mobile Tool Library on Saturday, Jan. 21.

The Mobile Tool Library is a free service that lends tools to local residents who lack access to them, enabling them to beautify and revitalize their neighborhoods. The program launched with the Richmond Tool Library. Now, a new Tool Library will service residents of North Richmond.

The grand opening event (time to be determined) will take place in the parking lot across from North Richmond Missionary Baptist Church at 1401 Fred Jackson Way. It will include activities, lunch and resource tables, and an opportunity to check out the tools in the inventory.

Those interested in tabling or providing an activity for the grand opening are encouraged to contact [email protected].

The North Richmond Mobile Tool Library had a soft launch in May to support nonprofits and public agencies serving the area via volunteer beautification events and other efforts. It attended Verde’s Learning Celebration Night. It also recently lent tools to Urban Tilth’s San Pablo Creek clean-up.

“We are looking forward to serving more of the community once we open to the public on January 21,” city officials said.
