Richmond police are investigating a shooting in the 1500 block of Ohio Avenue last week that claimed the life of 33-year-old Alfredo Gomez Macias.

Richmond police responded to the area on a ShotSpotter gun detection system activation and found Gomez unresponsive and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Further details about the murder weren’t immediately available. Police said the incident remains under investigation and that detectives are following up on leads.

The incident marked the city’s 9th homicide in 2022.

A GoFundMe fundraiser has been established to support Gomez’s family at this difficult time. According to the GoFundMe, Gomez was gunned down in front of his home while he was working on his beloved RV. Gomez reportedly leaves behind a wife, son, daughter and a baby on the way.

“If you came across our uncle you know he was the life of the party,” the fundraiser notes, adding he was “such a loving uncle with many flaws and virtues but with such a big heart.”
