Marina Bay Parkway house fire brought under control in 20 minutes

Richmond firefighters brought a house fire on Marina Bay Parkway under control within 20 minutes Wednesday night. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters responded to the 500 block of Marina Bay Parkway about 8:45 p.m. and found heavy smoke coming from a large home, with reports of an occupant possibly still inside, according to Richmond Firefighters Local 188, the union representing the city’s firefighters.

“Crews wasted no time as they immediately began searching the structure ahead of the hose lines as additional resources arrived at scene,” the report states. “Luckily, the occupant in question was found safely outside a few minutes later.”

Engine crews worked to extinguish the flames while colleagues took to the roof to perform a vertical ventilation. After bringing the fire under control, crews remained at the scene for hours to extinguish hot spots.

Fire resources from El Cerrito and the County assisted in the incident.
