Richmond police are investigating a murder-suicide in the Parchester Village neighborhood.

Police responded to a home in the neighborhood just after 9 a.m. to conduct a welfare check, Capt. Al Walle said.

“A man reported that he was watching his brother’s children overnight but his brother had not picked them up and was not answering his phone,” Walle said.

Officers checked the residence and located a deceased man and woman, both of whom had been shot.

Homicide investigators believe the deaths were a murder-suicide.

“The official cause and manner of death will later be determined by the Coroners Office,” Walle said.

Identities of the deceased were not immediately available.
